Hey TN, I'm in alittle bit of a pickle. Someone offered to tint my entire windshield. The laws around here are pretty lax with window tinting. The guy only has 20% and 35% rolls big enough to do the windshield. I already have the tint strip which helps some what. Anyone have experience driving with 35% windshield tint especially at night?
I just got mine tinted with Llumar Air Blue 80 and I'll probably have the windshield done too. Some people use regular tint all around, but then have the windshield tinted with Air Blue. It's light enough (78%) where it looks pretty subtle/stock, yet people have said it blocks out more heat than limo tint. It's functional of course, but won't give you the privacy/darkness of regular tint. Maybe consider that on the front if you want sun/heat protection with lots of visibility.

i have my BACK windshield on my ES at 20% tint. does wonders for bright fuggin lights. the front is a different story. i had one bad experience in a Bentley GT so tinting the front windshield is something i'll never do.
Thanks for the opinions guys. I was actually thinking of 50% but the guy didnt have a roll of that big enough to do the windshield. Having a gen 3 unlike the newer cars that automaticly come with some sort of clear tint on the windshield, mine doesnt. So i get the full force of the sun and heat right through the front windshield excluding the tint strip. Does anyone know if tint shops will put a clear tint on the windshield? Because the only reason im able to get the windshield tinted is the guy does this as a hobbie. I know shops wont do a 20% or anything like that on a windshield.
Definitely don't get darker than 50% unless u dont plan on ever driving at night. :p
I have 20% on my side windows and although it looks so damn good... I sometimes have to roll down my window when making a left turn through an intersection so I don't drive over the median.
I'm planning on tinting my windshield 75% or maybe lighter.
It looks cool but driving at night really really sucks. My buddy's Tacoma has 35% on the windshield. I only rode with him once at night and you can't see shit. The area lit up by the headlights is ok, but you can't see anything near the truck. Daytime it is fine.
I got 50% on my windshield..love it. But recently got a fix-it for my front windows (driver/passenger) cuz apparently im 10% over the limit in AZ...not what my receipt says though really surprised the sheriff didnt catch my windshield
cars here in my part of town have 20% on everything that is glass. cabin stays cool in the daytime and they just run over everything at nighttime... nobody cares.

Why would you need to tint your windshield? Got something you don't want people to see? Cops would be all over you if you do. Any tint on the windshield is a automatic ticket, unless you're only tinting the top portion, which still has a strict law about it.
Driving at night is pretty dangerous with tinted windshields, not to mention increasing chances of injury during accidents. Not worth it in my opinion.

its actually not as people point it out to be. same as without tint, just no sun glare during the day. at night I've personally never had a problem..sometimes i forget its tinted. i wouldnt go darker, but if your not keeping your eyes on the road or if slight things throw you off while driving then dont do it.
It's illegal to tint your drivers side and passenger side front windows in California and of course your windshield....that being said, the cops really don't give me a second look... even when bike cops are directly in my rear.
...but, the thought of tinting my front windshield is just not safe. I know some people that do have it tinted but they are always getting jammed by the cops for it.
Is there any tint out there that doesn't degrade the optics of the glass? I would think tinting the windshield anything below where most people have a "banner" on the top would be a bad idea and affect visibility.
I personally think having the rear window tinted dark is nice at night for headlights shinning in. I've had 5% on the rear and that is perfect, don't have to flip the rear view mirror to "night". Right now I have 20% on the rear, it looks more stock, still too dark where I live, but less of a chance getting pulled over. It is easy to back up down a longer driveway with 20%, 5% is trickier, especially with a trailer, but using the side mirrors helps get around that.
Having a tinted banner on the upper part of the windshield also helps, I would say at least 20%, if not 5%. I've had both and now have 35%, which is way to light to serve a functional purpose.
