struts bad? replacement?

My camry bounces really bad over bumps. Feels like it shifts right and left on the bounce. I know that the right strut is bad, but didn't know if that's what caused the bounce and shift. How hard is it to replace the strut? Do I need to replace the coil also? Thanks for any info or how to information!

Someone else can chime in on the shifting left to right part. Changing your struts isnt that hard. Look at the stickies and do a search on how to replace them from the list. It should take you most of the day to do them if you havent done them before and if you have hand tools. If your springs are in good condition, keep them, unless you want to lower your car. ALSO, please take every precaution to remove the springs!! You can get seriously hurt if they go off.

You might seriously consider using quickstruts or similar in pairs (2 fronts/2 rears/all 4, not just one). It makes the job a lot easier, and all components will be new, with a lifetime warranty for many. Will need a good breaker bar for the strut mounting bolts, and a torque wrench that has can go above 150 ft/lbs to install them. It is an easy job if all goes smoothly (removing the stabilizers on the rear can be areal pain if rusted).
