2001 Camry sudden popping/clicking noise

I purchased my car recently and all in all it's in great shape. After driving it for a few weeks, I took it to a mechanic to check out a clunking sound, he replaced the stabilizer bar bushings, said my rear struts were also bad so I replaced those. He also flushed the power steering fluid. Now comes the problem.... a few days after all that, I get a strange popping/clicking sound when I am backing up and turning my wheel. It's coming from the driver's side front. It actually sounds similar to a tight cable popping against something. It goes away when I drive forward. I took it back to the mechanic. He said he checked everything and could not figure out what it is. Any ideas?

im guessing it may have to do with a belt since it sounds like a cable popping against something

get a bright flashlight and check your belts to make sure they are taught and arent cracking all over the place.. other than this i cant think of anything else
good luck

It may be the outer CV joint? See diagnosis procedure, scroll down to Symptoms of CV joint failure:
