Cam bearing for '98 V6 Camry
I searched the forum for info on the cam bearing, without any luck.
I noticed a noise coming from my engine a while back. Its a metallic gingley sound. Sort of like shaking dangling keys on a chain. Can only hear it when the windows are open and after the engine has warmed up a bit. At first I suspected the alternator bearings so I used a stethoscope the checked various locations. The noise is loudest when the front valve cover near the timing belt is touched. The car has 121k miles now and the timing belt was changed at 110k about 4 years ago.
I suspect that there is a bad bearing under there. Any info, suggestions or cautions would be appreciated.
Guess its time to get a shop manual. This car has been great, the only repair that I have made was to replace the starter at 100k.
