Hood Lifters on a 1999 Camry.....possible?

Having recently decapitated myself from my hood falling on me, I would like to install piston lifters on my hood to keep it up and out of harm's way.

Has anybody attempted such an installation, and is it even possible? Logistically at least. I have found a good place I can attach the lifter to the body, but up on the hood is another question, the angles seem a little wrong.

I think Gen 4.5 came with hood lifters. Not sure if it requires aleration for them to work on 97-99 Camrys

Yup. My '99 doesn't have them but my bro's 2001 aswell as pop's 2002 does. When it bugs me enough, I'll look into whether or not it's swapable. Worse case scenerio, it might invlove a bit of welding or drilling to mount it.

Heh... I can see it now. Some design guy says "No one likes these because eventually they can go out. let's go with the tried and true bar".... a few years later, he's standing in the unemployment line saying "Damn.. we should have left them there!"

My 01 has them . I like showing them off at the gas station when I check my oil
