Radio Knob ?

Sometimes the simplest thing takes on a life of it own.

In my '93 Camry I have the FM radio refereed to as their type B radio.
That is, it has the AM/FM and the CD player.
On the right side are two little knobs that control tone and balance.
I lost one so I went up to the Stealership to get one.
When I put it on it sticks out further than the other one, to the point that when it is depressed in to lock it and it is released it will flip off.

The other sets deeper and extends less off the face place and won't flip off, never has.

They say this is the only one for this type B radio, I'm stumped.
The only thing that I can figure out is the part is defective and wasn't hallowed out enough to fit correctly. I haven't checked the depth of the two with a pin yet to see if they're even.

Can anyone else sheds some light on what the hell might be happening here.

Those knobs have a metal spring like insert in them. That has to go over the radio shaft. Make sure the old insert is not still on the radio shaft. Look to see if the knob can go over the shaft.

It's possible that part of the old knob is still on the shaft, not allowing the new one to seat fully and making it easy to pop off.

Thanks, it was me, I didn't push it down far and hard enough for it to lock on the shaft.
It's fine now.
