4th Generation Install a Deck ?

I have a 2001 camry xle . It has the wood grain finish , i would like to change the stock deck that is in it right now which is a double din to a single din deck, but i would like it to fit just like the stock deck i know that i will have to put the pocket underneath to fil in the space. The stock decks corners are at at a 90 degree angle where as a lot of the decks i see have that sort of rounded finish on them before you put the face plate on. Has anyone installed an aftermarket deck without using the face plate that comes with it, and instead used the woodgrain plate finish of the camry . Can i get some feed back -on the look and how it fit or anything i might need to know . Thanks

Never did the wood grain finish but I would think that the new head unit will look too modern for the wood grain. Just my opinion

How will you use the radio without the face plate? Or do you mean the trim ring? You don't use that ring that goes around the HU on Toyotas. It won't fit right. It won't look stock really because the face will stick out generally.

XLE usually comes with JBL radio which makes things more complicated...make sure you know what you're doing.
