90 2000 motor into a 92 w/a 2200

how much trouble would it be to put an engine out of a 90 camry in a 92. i have a low mi 2.0 L that the body is shot and i have chance to get a 92 in excellent shape w/ 120k on it but a rod thru the block. i dont know if the eec box wires would fit, or other wiring. anybody have a clue?

best thing to do is to sell the low mileage motor and use the money to buy a motor for the camry. That way the swap is plug and play and since the 5sfe is pretty cheap anyways, you wont be spending alot of money to do it.

I had a friend who had a professional put a 2.0 3SFE in to his 98 Camry which had the later generation 5SFE engine that had sludged up. This guy said he does this all the time as the 2nd generation 5SFE engines are getting scare due to all the sludge motors out there that needed replacements. He uses the 5SFE heads and all other emmision parts on the 3SFE block. According to this guy the 5SFE is actually a stroked 3SFE. I do't know how true that last statement is, but my friend's 98 Camry runs fine with the 3SFE block mated to the 5SFE heads. My friend said he does notice a slight drop in horsepower.
