I just replaced the valve cover gaskets on my 1MZFE and it wasn't that hard thanks to all of the DIY'S from this forum. I did have a problem with the plastic coil connectors.
When I reassembled everything back together and started the engine the CEL threw a P1300 code indicating a coil or spark problem. I checked the connectors on the front right side 2,4,and 6 and although they were cracked the pins were engaged and making contact with the coil. Now I had to remove the intake manifold again to check the other 3 coils. Sure enough the #3 connector was not making solid contact with the coil. The connector was flush with the coil but I noticed that the two wires and rubber seals were too far out of the plastic housing. I removed the connector and had to pull the wires thru the connector and manually attach them onto the pins of the coil. I sealed everything with some RTV and everything is now fine. If this did not fix the problem the only alternative other than a new wiring harness was to check with a local wrecker to see if I could find some connectors. These connectors are very brittle and fragile so be careful when disconnecting and reattaching to the coil.
