window motor, switch , regulator

have a 96 camry
the driver side window use to go down but not up
now it does not do either
the motor sounds like it works but the window does not move

i unpluged the motor, used a voltmeter to measure dc volts inside the plug (male i think) (the plug that leads to the switch not the motor), i got around 12.6 volts while pushing the window up button, and window down button

however, i am confused because when the plug is connected the window motor makes the rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr noise the known good ones make. is this motor bad? does anyone know how to test the motor itself?
i have not greased anything yet.

My window motor is similar, in that it will go up until about halfway then stall, then I have to wait about 2-3 minutes until it can return the rest of the way up.

If removing it and re adjusting the plugs doesn't help then you may need to purchase a new motor. Amazon sells them at a reasonable price.

Hope this helps!

If/when you open up the door panel, you may find that the regulator cable has detached from the center bracket the glass attaches to. Its also possible that the motor shaft or gear broke which would explain why it still makes noise and spins. The motor usually gets bound up when the cable breaks. It sounds like your motor is working but you'll have to get the door panel off to see exactly whats going on.

paseo,

did not notice a detached cable from the center bracket..
yesterday, i took out the regulator/ motor and replaced it with a regulator/motor from junk yard. still got the same results.but i think my test verified the switch is good. i guess it is possible that the regulator/motor from the junk yard is bad as well.

now from what you have said my next test is to see if the gears r broken, so im going to disassemble one of the motors, im bored..
