starter problem?

my 95 le v6 clicks like 3-5 times (cold start) before the starter starts working (struggles though). so is the starter bad? Is this a problem where the solenoids have to be changed or something? and is there a diy for this (couldn't find one), thanks in advance

Sounds like your starter solenoid/plunger needs to be replaced. Don't bother buying a new one as replacing them are cheaper. There are 2 DIYs on the sticky for I4s but not a V6. Maybe its very similar? Someone else should chime in for that one.

The starter refurb in the DIY is identical to what you have. Just ask counter / parts to double check your VIN to which size contacts you need.

Yup, most likely the starter solenoid contacts need to be replaced.
