Loose change

I recently bought this one owner 95 Camry V-6 LE - 145K miles.
Pretty nice overall with regular maintenance done.

I have done quite a bit of work on it, cleaning, changing out
fluids/filters/throttle body cleaning etc.
And I'm pretty pleased so far.

But I do have 3 concerns I hope I can get some help with.

1)**When starting cold, for about 2 min. until it warms up a bit, I here what sounds like loose change in a blender.
Seems to coming from around the belt area. ??? No noise at all after it warms up.

2) Moderate oil leak coming down on the passengers side axle. I read here where the valve cover gasket tend to leak
and I do believe mine are leaking a bit but I think it is even more than that ??

3) I notice a thump from the right rear when I hit a substantial bump??

Other than that the car seems pretty sweet.

Seems to coming from around the belt area. ??? No noise at all after it warms up. I'd get a bit concerned about the timing belt/tensioner. Do you know when it was done? Get a mechanics' stethoscope at someplace like Harbor Freight, and trace the noise.

Clean out the area, and see where it's coming from. Several possibilities, some serious. Could also be related to the start-up noise - issue with component being 'dry' and taking a minute to 'pump up'.

3) I notice a thump from the right rear when I hit a substantial bump??
Likely strut mount or strut issue. Are the struts original? If so, they're due - 16+ years and the miles... Also check out the control arms and sway bar connections - a complete check-out of the suspension is in order...

Other than that the car seems pretty sweet.

Thanks Frodo65....great tips!

Struts are original.

As far as the timing belt and components being replaced,
I can't say for sure.
The original owner was not sure if it was done or not.
My guess is not.

I found these You Tubes on 3.0 Belt replacement.
Looks like some special tools maybe needed.

Check it out tell me what you think.

I would get the belt replaced then, the belt is probably really loose and hitting the inside of the timing cover. If you're mechanically inclined you can do it yourself.

+1^ Owner does not know if the TB has been changed, then it has probably not been changed.

Job isn't terrible - but the video car looked like it didn't spend time in the rust belt - watch for bolts corroding together. Not like suspension parts - that you need to soak in liquid wrench or the like.

Personally, I'd not reuse broken studs like the guy did - the tip breaking off may also have weakness elsewhere. The trip back to get new parts is a PIA, but...

Also, you may want to consider replacing cam and crank seals - at 16+, they're hard and likely to leak before the new belt is due for another replacement - which leaking seals will cause to happen early.
