Talking 1998 Camry New to site WORK-A-HOLIC

Hello everyone!! I own a 1998 Camry 4Cyl automatic trans. No special stuff here. However, the car is going to need a lot of fixes, as now the car will not pass inspection, therefore, i cant get an inspection sticker. Here in Lousiana, which I pronounce, LOUSY-ANNA, it is a requirement for all cars to have inspection stickers. Mine does not pass!!! Here is a list of what fixes I am doing to the car in the very near future, tomorow!! (well getting started)

The instrument pannel or dash board lights, same thing, are out. Nothing in the dash board illuminates, nothing! Also if you look at the AC Control Pannel, the one with cool/hot dial, fan speed dial, etc, it is also dark or no light. But futhermore there is one working light out of all these bulbs, the green round circle light around the top ciggeratte lighter. hmmmmm????

I have read many many posts to this problem and i think i have enough info to start. i will post later if i cant fix.

also i get error code 401 egr restrict gas air flow etc. also i have read many many posts to this also. I am going to try what info i have already read and try it from there.

If anyone would like to post helpful info to these topics, i would love it. please post info with pics if possible. i am not mechanically inclined so if its confusing text, i will get confused. pics work great for me.

By the way, I am a dingle berry!!

Thanks Homies

Hello, and welcome to Toyota Nation! Tell you what, I'll move your intro thread over to the Camry forums so the members there can lend you a hand. With Christmas, though, answers may be slow in coming the next couple of days, so hang in there.

First, I'd check the fuses. Pretty sure the fuses for this would be in the fuse box behind the little door down and left of the steering wheel. If that's not the problem, here's a DIY showing how to replace the bulbs in the climate control panel. And here's another showing how to change the bulbs in the instrument cluster. But it would be very unusual for that many bulbs to go bad at the same time.

Here's a DIY showing how the replace the EGR valve, but that might not be the problem; could be other things that control it. Read that whole thread for more discussion of those.

LOL!!! OK, I know what a dingle berry is, but in this context I'm not sure?
