The Camry Coupe, first released in 1994, was not as popular as its 4 door sibling, but it was in demand and manufactured both in North America and Japan.
After sales started to falter, it was discontinued in 1997. The Camry Solara coupe was then created and established its own identity, yet still very similar to the Camry sedan in many ways, in 1999.
The styling features such as headlights/tail lights, grill, trunk, fenders, bumpers and other cosmetic modifications were truly the only major differences...the mechanical nature, however was very, very similiar if not identical in most cases, depending on which country they were made.
The Camry Solara made up a large portion of Toyota's sales, however they discontinued the 2 door model in 2009 after sales began to fall. I am not sure if they will resurrect the Solara or not, but I know that those who have been loyal owners and fans will mourn its passing quite dearly.
I hope this helps! God bless!
