They're probably not related. P0401 = Insufficient EGR Flow per this website.
Which engine does it have, V6 or 4 cylinder? Here's a DIY thread for replacing the EGR valve in a 4 cylinder, but it's possible the valve isn't at fault, but instead the other things controlling it. Read that whole thread for a good discussion of it.
