95 Camry wagon, 195K, bought with 67K, water pump went out.
After lots of reading in these forums, decided to tackle the job myself. Bought the Aisin kit with pump, idler wheels, oil seals and belts ($209 on EBay), but have run into two roadblocks:
a) engine mounting bracket on top of water pump has studs with the E-8 Torx heads, both of which stripped. Options now include using visegrips to remove studs (could the studs snap?) and then replace them. Or possibly raise the engine to allow removing the bracket and more easily extracting the studs?
shows the technique on a 00 Lexus 3.0 - has anyone done this? Is it an option for an older Camry?
b) tried using the bump start method of removing the crankshaft pulley bolt, but it's on so tight that it didn't work (removed EFI fuses, and braced my 24" breaker bar driveway - then tried bracing against the lower control arm). Maybe I'll try charging up the battery to full charge and try again. That failing, the local rental place has 1" drive impact wrenches available.
