Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
1992 Camry, v6 3000. I made a mistake and unscrewed and completely removed the connector from the potentiometer. What I am seeking is which male connectors the two black wires coming from the unit goes to, there are several possible connections on the back of the connector. I think that one possible goes to the copper colored one. Any help out there.
the potentiometer is found on top of the MAF just past the air filter. It operates within the MAF. look at the front top the air filter lid. The silver thing is the MAF the wiring connection goes to to the potentiometer it has two screws which holds the connector to the body of the MAF. there are two black wires within the body of the potentiometer and several possible connector points on the back of the connector. which one goes where is the problem.
great photo how easy is getting the top off the potentiometer?
Not bad. It's held on by what appears to be silicone sealant around the perimeter. Just cut thru that with a razor knife and it lifts out. Run the knife right up against the MAF's aluminum housing. When you get it off, be sure to look for & remove any chunks of sealant that might've fallen in. When you're done, stuff the lid back on and seal it up with RTV silicone caulk. Mine was still unsealed from adjusting the cog wheel thingy inside. These engines are set up way too rich by Toyota, so adjusting that wheel per this thread leans it out; good for a few extra free HP. There's a better pic in that thread too; forgot about that.
