3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
as the title states it's a New Year and a time when many of us decide to take on new Projects for our cars. I was wondering what you guy's had in store for your Gen 3/4 Camrys this new year. Whether it be a new paint job, new exhaust, to a full out build please share with us yours plans. Maybe it will inspire others to do something with their cars.
As for me 2012 brings a whole new project for my Scepter. After a year long battle with my Scepter I have decided to change the whole setup completely. As some of you may know I have a turbocharged 5sfe Gen 3 Camry. I have suffered from everything from transmission problems, to electrical problems, to everything else. It has been very frustrating to say the least.
I am buying a parts car this coming week and I will be building a 1MZFE engine, getting a new transmission and supercharging it. I will be replacing the wiring of my car almost completely and fixing some other issues with the Scepter. I am hoping for some good results with the new upcoming setup and to be able to enjoy it more then I did with it's current setup. Keep an eye out as I will start a whole new thread on the new project and I will be putting my turbo 5sfe parts and parts from the parts car up for sell.
I look forward to reading other people's plans for their Camry's this new year.
Thanks everyone!
-Terry

Summer is probably where I will be doing most of my work. What I have planned may not be as much as others but I will be pretty much work mainly on the cosmetics by dropping my 3rd gen on some d2 coilovers, getting a cyber 3 bodykit and customizing the front end, duraflex sideskirts. If I am able to ill finish it with VIS invader, carbon fiber wing(forgot what it was specifically called), shave the door trim, fix all the rust and repaint.
Well, I already did my project: paint the car one color. I just got finished spray painting the whole thing just now
The MR2 however is a different story...

Chris Crash: This thread is about talking about your planned projects for 2012, not bashing or leaving smart ass pictures. You can take that crap somewhere else. Thanks.
the94camryman: I know bro and I am sorry. I stopped posting updates because of the amount of problems I was having with the car. It became very frustrating. The engine runs fine but having it boosted has really complicated it and made it unreliable. I must say though I am impressed with the fact that I have not blown the motor. I daily drove it for a while and did beat on it and the 5sfe took the daily beating. Impressed to say the least. But I look forward to having a boosted 1MZ and I will be completely building the motor not just slapping on a supercharger. I want to make some serious power.
Thanks everyone for your input. Looks like some decent plans are in store for 3rd and 4th gen Camrys this year. Keep them coming! Thanks

The Following User Says Thank You to Rapeacivic For This Useful Post:
I suppose I won't be one of the few lonely gen3's that is 1mzfe + supercharged...
Are you going 5-speed on the 1mzfe or auto?? Go 5-speed!!
GL with the project...being v6 + 5-speed + supercharged is tons of fun
My plans for this year of 2012: LSD, go 7 psi, new coilovers, clutch upgrade to handle the extra power

I'd like to finish mine completely by the end of this year. With the new job and new air tools it might just happen!
But the Acura K24 swap is taking some of my steam - have to keep one of them roadworthy at all times!
