96 Camry LE dome light

Hello, I have a 96 Camry 4dr 4cyl. The dome light when set to the door position only comes on when the front passenger door is opened. When opening any of the other 3 doors the light does not come on. Any ideas. Thanks in advance

Does the door open icon on the speedo come on when you open any other door?

I just checked. The door open does come on when the front passenger door is opened. None of the other doors when opened trigger the icon on dash. Also I just noticed that the front passenger door is intermittent with the light but not the icon

Update. The light and the icon on the dash are intermittent on both front doors. no response at all from back doors

Try cleaning the door switches. Here's a thread showing how to do it on a 2000 model, which is very similar. I didn't take mine apart like he did; just hosed them down with WD40 until it was running down my arm.

Edit: The return path is thru the screw, so make sure it's good and clean too (not rusty).
