i havent removed a compressor from a camry, but on other vehicles there arent too many bolts holding it in place (minus the coolent lines). if you can leave the lines attached and just have the compressor loose, you *should* be able to use a gear puller and pull of the clutch assembly. sorry if this doesnt help.
Yeah, just remove the belt and the 4 bolts (maybe it was only 3?) holding it to the engine, then you can work on the clutch.
Hopefully you have better luck than I did.

As in putting it on a bench? R12 or R134a? You'll need to have the system evacuated then remove the refrigerant lines and the four bolts that hold it to the mounting bracket and engine. After it's off you'll need a tool to hold the pressure plate then another bolt tool (SST) to separate the pressure plate from the shaft. Never done this one so others might give you an alternate tool method that won't damage anything. If you have access then keeping it on the car is a lot less labor and you won't have to have the system vacuumed and re-charged.

It turned out my compressor was shot and I replaced the compressor as well as the clutch. I was going to do complete DIY on the whole procedure but I never got around to it.
thanks guys, im thinking of just saying F*** the compressor and clutch, grabbing a thor hammer and just knocking the shit our of it!
In anycase the 2 washer on the bolt thing, was helpful! Anywya, got a new problem, It flooded crazy today, went through that shit, got to work safely but my alternator light came on, shit. thought i f***ed it up! turns out, im good! BUT the belt was super loose! i looked down and it seems as though the harmonic balancer big pulley is GONE! mustve fell in one of the puddles. anyway, i have a f***ed up harmonic balancer, and a loose belt, :[ im f***ed! i dont feel like trying anymore... i really dont! i can get the parts at a big discount since i work for oreilley auto parts, but now i have to find a thread for the HB! f***.. oh well, thanks guys,
i'll look to see about the damn Clutch, im thinking of just getting a huge breaker bar, turning on the car with no belt on it, engaging the Magnetic part and trying to do it like that! How well do you guys think that will go?

Wont work. In that thread, I was trying to replace the clutch. As such, I wasn't worried about damaging it. I pryed with all sorts of various tools, and made my own SST. None of which worked. Ended up drilling holes in it and fashioning up a puller of sorts.

So f*** it. I guess I'm going to remove the whole thing. Ill takeit to a shop to flush the system ten pull that muther f***er out....
I guess ill have to rent the harmonic balancer pulley puller from work. Remove it then replace it.
While I'm at it. I'm going to explore removing my cruise control system since its just space and doesn't work! ahh too much shit to do not enough time!

So yesterday I replaced my harmonic balancer. Did the start bump method. I don't think I tightened up right though. Will check at some point. While I was there, removed the a/c compressor, I had no freon whatsoever. None -_- anyway came off pretty easily I guess. Took off the lower radiator hose, droppd fluid. then got a 3inch extension with a 12mm socket to removethe top, used a pipe since it was a little hard. Then there are 2 in sight lower, took the left one off easily. The right one you have to remove the 2 lines connecting to the compressor. Then off with the right bolt, took it off and slipped on the non a/c belt! It Idles soooo much better! Before it would misfire, and now its steady rpms. I remembered looking at the belt one day and seeing it move at normal speed but every once in a while it would slow down then go back to normal speed! That was definitely the a/c compressor! Well , now the vehicle is good, but I have to make sure the harmonic balancer is torqued to spec. I didn't even torque it correctly! :s
