Clunk into OD

Hey Boyos,
So now that I've got the new job and a little bit more time I'm getting around to adjusting all those little things on the car that have been driving me nuts - as per my stereo thread, and soon new bushings throughout!

However I've noticed lately that I'm getting a little bit of an intermittent clunk when the car is going into Od. Normally I just drive the car in D without the 'sport' mode on and the OD button depressed. What I have noticed is if I'm coming up to speed on a main road and it shifts into the OD there can be a pretty good clunk/thump/ooftah when it shifts. It's not a noise so much as a feeling that goes through the car. I've noticed that if I have the OD turned off and I get off the gas a little before depressing the button it's smooth.

It makes sense to me that if the car decides to go into OD while under load it would be hard on that tiny little gear. But if this is indicative of something a little more serious coming down the road that I can avoid, well why the heck not!
