Superchargered V6 Camry 99 Manual Build Thread

Hey all

I have a V6 99 Sedan Manual Camry..

Currently with about 210-220hp (depends on the dyno's mood :P)

I have a Cold Air intake, and a Cat back system.

Also i have a set of genie headers on the way

Anyway in the search for more power

I am planning fitting one of these

PRO SUPERCHARGER C2

Since it is near impossible to get the TRD Supercharger.

I will update the tread as i go..

Hopefully i can create a good alternative to the TRD supercharger that everyone can use

Nice man, procharging is something we dont see much thrown around here. Gotta say though, it would likely be easier to just go turbo instead of having to fab up mounts and a neck for that thing. There really isnt enough room to mount a cintrifigual charger close to the belts without clearance issues. But your starting with the right ride, that 5 speed will make any power adder really shine.

Clearance isn't a issue....

my Camry Doesn't have ABS.. So i have a big open space right near the belts...

also i have contacted the seller and the version of that supercharger that i am getting spins the opposite way to normal so it can be mounted the other way around..

anyway time will tell...

if i can't get it to work.. i can just put it on my other car :P

Cool! Subscribed. Can't wait to see how your progress goes. Nice to see another 5-speed Gen 4 Camry with big plans!

Honestly, pretty much everyone will tell you that it's not worth trying to custom fit a blower. Gabe (TRD4Life) spent many years fitting an M90 supercharger to the 1MZ, and a LOT of money. His kit IS now complete and I think can be bought for somewhere around a few thousand. I highly doubt you'd be able to custom fit a supercharger for less than that.

It's not too hard to get a TRD charger. If you're not willing to spend a few thousand dollars on a custom kit, I've got a TRD blower on my Camry, and I'm considering selling it if you're interested. I'm planning to install a built engine this summer and might be buying Gabe's kit myself, or going with NOS (or both). Selling the TRD charger would seriously help me afford all this work I'll be having done.

I've never heard of the genie brand headers. I have OBX headers myself, with JP Performance cat-back. What else have you got planned besides a custom charger kit and intake/exhaust?

Pm me with how much u want for your supercharger :P

Other mods planned are..

A body kit (still deciding on which one)
and some strengthening bars

Already have fitted a DVD/GPS/Bluetooth etc Head Deck with Amp and Speakers..

Genie Headers are Tuned so that each pipe is the same length when they join together..

My cat back system is a 3" Lukey system...

Anyway i will go and take some pics to show my plan :P

EDIT:

Ok updates...

I have been in Contact with TRD4Life (glen)

I am going to get his' complete kit - List Follows

Quote:
New GLP Motorsports MP90 Supercharger kit which includes

New Magnuson MP90 Supercharger

Custom Length Nose Drive for Supercharger

Custom Supercharger "quick change" pulley assembly, you can remove the blower pulley in 30 seconds with this setup vs. a pressed on pulley where you would have to use a special puller to remove the pulley.

Custom supercharger pulley 5.5psi

Custom 1mz-fe intake manifold for MP90 Supercharger

Custom 1mz Throttle body assembly for MP90 supercharger

Custom Bypass valve setup for supercharger

Custom Idler Plate assembly which includes idler plates, 4 idler pullies, 1 spring loaded belt tensioner, supercharger belt, and all mounting hardware.

Custom support braces which brace the MP90 on the backside to support the weight using the 2 OEM braces that come on the back of our 1mz camrys

Supporting upgrades needed to run supercharger kit correctly.

Toyota Supra 330cc fuel injectors

Walbro fuel pump

One of my custom fuel line upgrades which eliminates a huge restriction we have on the OEM fuel lines on our 1mz camrys. The fuel line upgrade ensures that both fuel rails get equal fuel pressure. With the factory fuel line setup on our cars, one of our fuel rails gets 10% less fuel than the other. So my kit frees up that restriction, a big deal when we are working with forced induction The kit also includes a larger fuel filter.

Colder iridium spark plugs for s/c kit

Magnecore 8.5mm Competition Spark plug wires , these wires are huge and ensure that your factory ignition system provides a strong enough spark to ignite the mixture correctly. The factory 1mz wires are tiny

Colder thermostat 10 degrees colder than stock

apexi safc2 Computer Chip
Currently in the progress of getting the money together (hopefully will have it by the end of this week)

Add walbro 255 fuel pump to that list too

Looking forward to helping you out with your v6 5 speed, I've always loved the 4th gen body style.

You will be the 2nd guy in the world running my kit, the other guy being Trent up in Canada who has the 99 Solara 3mz swapped with my MP90 S/C and one of my 16g twin turbo kits running triplecharged.

Looks like you will the first Camry guy in the world to run this setup and also the first guy to dyno this kit without turbochargers
