99 camry double din radio install questions??

I have a 99 camry & right now I have an alpine 7864 single din radio. I am thinking of upgrading to a double din Clarion Cx-501 any way I was wondering if I needed a dash install kit like I did for the single din and if so where to get the double din dash install kit for my 99 camry ?

I have a Double Din DVD/GPS/TV/ETC in my 99 camry....

No special bits of plastic or anything is required...

They fit so neatly in the standard location...

I can upload some pics if you like

pics would be great, what secures or hold the radio in place, the screws on the side of the radio or do the come with a mounting cage like single din radios do?

The black outer plastic just pulls off

You remove the old player and little slot thingy

Then all i did was screw the new player into the standard mounts

The fit so neatly

Here is a link to ebay with the 2Din unit i got

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ERISIN-ES863...item589215dc8d

the brand is ERISIN..

The best thing is it is one of the few that you can set the Startup logo on..

So you can set it to the Toyota logo..

Which is always nice :P

Edit..

the Wiring Harness you need to just plug it straight in

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOYOTA-ISO-C...item20b9099191

It is Also Rather cheap

EDIT:

also AlfaOttoParts1, That standard 2 din unit you listed doesn't fit neatly..

I got that one for myself for a upgrade and it required cutting of the plastic molding in the car so it fit...

Last edited by hodgoes2001; 02-22-2012 at 11:50 PM. Reason: added Wiring Harness info

That is pretty neat, hodgoes. Did you order from that eBay seller?

I'm a bit confused with the engrish in that listing. Does it come with the TV antenna? It suggest that it does in the pictures, but in the specs, ect. it suggest it does not. If it did, can you comment on how well it works? What about the GPS function?

Shame it doesn't have a slot to use a SD card for .mp3's... or a place to just stick a flash drive (instead of using the cable). However after some looking around, it just seems like about the best deal, plus - yours looks nice in there. Wonder if a man could buy/make an adapter for that Ipod-In (#15 in their picture) then install something like these

Into the dash somewhere? I see some of their other double din stuff already has a rear USB cable... but I dig this one alot. Want to get rid of wires though, my current setup is a phillips 8GB mp3 player, wire ran to AUX input in the front of a pioneer, then the USB cable ran to a cig lighter USB plug.

I got mine from ebay :P

Yes it comes with the TV antenna and the GPS antenna as well..

the Digital Tv was ok... in town it works great.. but it isn't real good in the country side...

the GPS works great.. the signal is really good.. and it runs windows ce so if u don't like the standard one that comes on it.. you can put something else like tomtom or navman on it...

Also I found that the standard GPS software could play MP3s off the SD card.. so u can do it that way..

Make a folder called "Music" and just remember not to format the card :P

I tend to use mine with my 32GB Ipod... the good thing is it also charges it :P
