1998 Camry Ignition Tumbler

So over the past month, my ignition key tumbler has not been turning with ease. I have noticed it doing it quite frequently now that the cold weather has been sticking around. During the mild days it has been turning a lot easier and with Chicago weather, those come and go without warning lol. So I'm starting to wonder if it is just the cold weather causing this or if the tumblers might be getting stuck, etc. and what should I do about it? Basically, my key will turn to just short of the accessories position then stop turning.

Try lock ease or another graphite spray. If graphite doesn't work you may need to replace lock tumbler. I replaced mine on a 1995 Corolla and it was pretty easy.

also try using your spare key. Keys wear down over time and it can cause issues just like this one.

Are the spare keys new, or like-new? If yes, then try spritzing some dry graphite into it. If no, then go to a Toyota dealer with the car's VIN and have them make a new key. I did that a while back for my Avalon; it didn't cost much; like $10.

The spares are not new however the master key I have is only two months old.

I just tried Lock Ease for the past hour and still no good results so I'm guessing I'll be needing a new ignition switch
