Thumbs up 97Camry ABS/Cruise control Problem

I'm hoping someone here can help me.

I've got a 97 camry 4cy with the following issues

1)The rear light failure indicator on dash comes on and stays on(when i step on the brakes) despite checking and confirming all lights are working.

2)My ABS light is on,I checked the speed sensors and they are all fine

3)My Cruise control comes on when i turn it on but goes off when i try to "set" it and won't work

I tried jumping tc and e1 but the appears to be no code:cruise,Abs,and Airbag indicators flash continuously so i assumed there's no code

Any ideas/suggestions will be highly appreciated.

update:PROBLEMS 1 AND 2 HAVE BEEN RESOLVED.
PROBLEM 3 GIVES AN ERROR CODE OF 11

Sometimes the bulb contacts or sockets get corroded, and the resistance goes up enough to trip the indicator even though the bulbs are still working. Check for that.

To read the ABS error code(s), along with installing a jumper across Tc & E1, the jumper installed in the lower right of the diag port needs to be removed; it's a tan-colored plastic part if I remember correctly. Did you do that?

Ah!... just looked into it more... your car may or may not have the jumper I mentioned, depending on which ABS system it has. Check out this thread. Scroll down to Qslim's post with a coupla pics showing the diag port.

I did check it more and found it.I got a code that i believe is 38.you can see it at the link below:

I hope you can be able to help me.Also would you happen to know if there's a relationship between the ABS and the cruise control? such as cruise wouldn't work without ABS?

I really appreciate your help.

Yep, code 38. There can be more than one, but I watched it long enough to see, and there was just 38. DTC 38 = Open in rear right wheel speed sensor circuit or defective sensor.

I'm not positive, but I *think* my Camry's cruise control wouldn't work when the ABS system had a fault.

I suspect the ABS light will reappear later. I had a bad wheel speed sensor that behaved like that. Hope your luck is better.

But it does confirm that it's unrelated to the cruise control. Sorry, I can't help you there; I dunno much about that system.
