The steering column doesn't have any power steering fluid in it at all. It's all in the rack, lines, and pump. It could be leaking at the seals where the column attaches to. Snap some piccies and post them up.
Most likely it's the rack that's leaking and most are not rebuildable at the shop. You'll have to git a rebuilt rack installed. When was the last time you had the power steering fluid changed out? I've used Auto-RX in leaking power steering rack and it cleared my leak right up. Hasn't leaked a drop in over 3 years.
