00 Wagon Suspension/Steering
So recently i've read on one or two threads that original suspension/steering on a 250,000km is VERY bad.
The wagon drives fine though, the only noticeable difference being the rear seems to be sitting a little low and struggles a little with medium loads. A simple fix i assume would be new shocks and springs - maybe splurge a little and rnr the bump stops too.
After a quick visual inspection i also noticed my curb side front tyre has excessive wear on the outer edge. Obviously a wheel alignment would fix this issue but i don't think spending money on a wheel alignment would be a good idea if i'm going to start replacing suspension/steering components.
So now for the question:
What are normally the first things to replace with 12yr old suspension/steering components?
I did a bit of research and found an almost endless list of things that should have been replaced by now (which seemed to be nearly EVERYTHING on my undercarriage).
But again she drives fine and the age old proverb "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is ringing in my ear though i'd still like to replace some of the major components that are exposed to the most wear. I'm getting some 16" alloy rims next week and i'm going to be putting new tyres on them so before that happens this wheel alignment and suspension repair needs to be done to ensure i get the best milage from my tread.
I also drive her pretty hard and would like to eliminate body roll and bounce without sacrificing too much comfort so performance springs and shocks are on the to-do list, with that in mind is there anything that absolutely has to be changed with regard to the sway bar/stabiliser bar/control arms/bearings?
Thanks in advance!
