3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I need some help diagnosing my air bag light. Is there anyway to dianose it with out taking it to the dealer?
I have replaced the module under the dash, the clock spring and the drivers side air bag? I noticed my car doesn't have the sensors on the frame rail as the 99 models do. Where are they located or are they in the module?
I disconnect the positive battery terminal while replacng the components. Do I need to disconnect both terminals?
You need to diagnose it by using the diagnostics port in the engine bay. Has the air bag light been on since you bought it? The sensors should be yellow colored and located near the front the the car. Could be on the fender (engine bay side).
Has this vehicle been in a front end collision before? Is it a salvage title? Snap some piccies of the engine bay (include the fenders) and post them up...

to fix that problem, you have to remove the air bag on the driver steering... there is an electronic module under steering that goes bad; therefore, the air bag light comes on. go junkyard get that electronic module..and you save $....
had happen the same problem on Honda car, after replaced used electronic module under the driver air bag steering..the light went away.

this is still apply to your case, Toyota.
The only module under the airbag on the Camry is the clock spring...which he already replaced. There are no other electronic modules besides the front sensors or the airbag ECU which is located under the radio.
Best thing to do before replacing things is to pull the codes from the airbag ECU using the engine bay diagnostics connector.
