I'm almost finished replacing the driver's side axle seal, but once completed, I still have a small leak out of the passenger side seal. I want to wait and replace that one later, and am wondering if it's OK to put Lucas in the differential in the meantime to minimize or stop the leak, and if so, how much? It comes in a 24oz bottle.

I had 2-3 bottles (all at the same time) in my transmission, when the torque convertor seal was leaking. Stuff is thick as honey. Shifted HARD when cold... when warm, it shifted like it always did. I pulled trans and fixed the leak. Now it's full of the proper fluid.
If it was me, Id try it. But I'd wouldn't use only the Lucas.

Hey waxon,
Do you happen to have a pictureof how the seal goes? Or some type of crappy image?? I need to replace mine and I'm doing it tomorrow. And also wondering if you have the National seal part # at least.
This damn leak is dropping hard. I can't even call it a leak! More like a spill >.<
I'd really appreciate it if I could get the information! And also maybe you wanna try gear oil in the differential. I find lucas very thick. Or maybe they're the same if you use 80w-140 or something around that. And if you do use lucas I recommend about 10 or 12 ounces! that should slow it down!

Ok. Did a quick search to rock auto.
Apparently. The seal I have is correct, as I am looking to stop the spill! It says the part number is timken part # 710416
Which would be the national number. Now I just need to see how it goes. I guess it should come naturally when I take a look at it >.>
Thanks guys, sorry to thread jack!

Thanks for the info. Here are a couple additional pics. I see some were already posted, but I just took these and uploaded already so here you go. I already popped out the seal with a long screwdriver, so I just pressed the edge of it into place for the pic. It has a fairly large inner lip so I felt pretty safe from scoring the surface with the screwdriver.

I found this helpful, even tho I saw it after already starting. I used Kocho's method of a large socket extension to hammer it out. Was pretty quick this way.
Overall, I'm pretty inexperienced with this car and am finding this a fairly straight forward easy job so far.

Ok so the part I have the 710416 is the correct? Cause when I'm searching on my work computer(oreilley auto parts)
And rock auot there are other output shaft seals. Only that this 710416 is the only one named differential outputshaft seal.
So then I do have the right one?
