I've brought all the needed stuff to clean my engine and give it a nice wash to make it clean and shiny... but I kno theres certain parts you have to cover before you let the water hit... any one kno all the parts

I don't cover anything when I take mine to the car wash. Never had a problem. Just don't directly spray the exhaust manifold or the alternator. The only thing I found is a little bit of rust in the spark plug tubes, probably because I got water in there, so I'm a bit careful now not to point the spray directly at the coil packs.
First I hit it with the engine de-greaser, then get on the ground, towel under the knee, and spray the undercarriage and brakes with de-greaser. The soap everything, and then rinse. Pay particular attention to the steering rack, from both sides, and while you are back there get the back of the valve cover if you have a 6-cyl. Take the hubcaps off, blast the brakes and get all the dust off the rims.
I do it most every oil change since Toyota's lousy design placement of the oil filter almost always results in me making a mess. So it's off to the car wash I go.
Dry everything off, and then pretty it all up with a little Armour-All. When you are done it should look like this.
Do you jack up the car when you spray underneath it ? and I've never seen anyone soap their engine. How long do you let the de-greaser sit for before you wash it off
btw your engine looks brand new

if engine is not red hot than it's OK. warm is fine. just don't shoot the water onto spark plugs boots or wires or ignition coils, avoid hitting the alternator, battery and distributor on gen3 and you will be fine.
I usually spray everything with a foamy degreaser spray and let it sit for 5 mins and then do a pressure wash and wipe everything up roughly with a cloth later. never a problem.
water mist or sprinkle getting into or onto mentioned above parts is insignificant. it happens every time you are driving in a rain, right?

After I applied all the cleaing products I watered down the engine and it seemed the spark plug wires were not all the way down and water got inside where the spark plugs are.... car didnt start for about 2 hours no matter what i tired. I plug apart everything and let them air dry and took a rag and wiped out any water inside the spark plug camber and disconnected all plugs and dry them off. Then finally the car chocked back to life
I always wrap any obvious wiring in aluminum foil: Coolant temp sensors, O2 sensors, grounds, etc... I started doing that after watching a pro detailer do it

I wont pressure wash my engine like that. Too many things could go wrong. I would cover everything that could go bad before pressure washing if I were you

Agreed! I should also add I never pressure wash, I wash. My pressure washer NEVER goes anywhere NEAR my paint or engine. The only thing it sees are the carpets.
