Today it is so hot that i thought of switching on the A.C to cool the cabin. Started the fan and switched on the A.C. Waited sometime and nothing. No cooling at all.
Previously, before the winter set in, the A.C was working fine. But today, its not working. It was just throwing regular air from fan.
What could be wrong? Any suggestions on what should i check before going to a mechanic? I checked coolant, its half way between low and high.
The compressor that should start and make noise when A.C is switched on is not happening. The A.C light is also not coming on.
if the lights not coming on at all, check all the Fuses and Relays first!!!
If the lights Blinking, then theres a problem.
The indicators and headlights are working just fine. do you think its a fuse problem? the indicator fuse does get lose time and again. do you think its because of that?
edit, i checked all the fuse, all in good condition. i noticed one thing, below the fuse, there is horizontal box which is empty. there is another vertical box to the right of that which has some black thing in it. could it be missing something which is related to A.C?
Edit: Im talking about the light on the AC Button. It should be Green when pressed
It is a 98 camry 4-cyl. Yes i am talking about the same AC button light. It is not green. There is no light when pressed. Even the compressor is not coming on when AC button is pressed.
I had frequent indicator problems for past 2 months. Occassionally at night, when using CC, indicator lights stop working. i just have to press the indicator fuse firmly to get it working. so i was wondering if its something like that with AC button where the fuse is not working properly.
You should have a Relay underneath the hood (small box). Try jumping the Relay for the AC and see if it turns on.
your Light may be burnt out. if the AC works with the Relay Bridged, the relay is bad
can you be please more specific about what needs to be done? you mention jumping the relay for AC. What am i suppose to do in that? I tried google for that but didn't find any info.
ill have to take pictures of everything for you tomorrow. I cant remember what relay it is to jump.
The relay has 4 posts on it. One is from the interior switch, the other is from the ac compressor, one is constant power, and the other is ground. You have the jump the constant power to the AC Switch side and the compressor should turn on.
