Question about changing brake pads on 92

I am able to get to my pads and know how to changes them and they are worn down to almost nothing ( damn I drive hard ). I know theres a tool you use to clamp onto the piston where you twist it and it pushes the piston back in to make room for the thicker pads.

I dont have this tool what else can I use? Can I push it in by force or knock it in ?

I use a medium sized 4-5" C-clamp with a worn brake pad between the clamp and piston to prevent damage. (it helps with dual piston too.) Then crack/turn the handle slowly to push the piston back. It's best to open the bleeder screw too to avoid overflowing the master cylinder with brake fluid and makes the work easier.

Yeah, a C-clamp or a bar clamp works if you don't have a caliper tool. Just be careful of the brake hose if you use a large clamp and try to push it back with the caliper in place.

Using a disc spreader like this one is a piece of cake. It is very cheap (Around $9 or so) and works real well. Use one of your old pads against the cylinder and just compress it in nice and slow. Piece of cake!

Usually I just use my thumbs if the pistons are free enough. If not, I use a C-clamp like others mentioned.
