problems starting car

hey guys,

im having problems starting my car.

the engine turns over fine but sometimes while cranking, there will be really short pauses where all my lights go out.

for example, sometimes my engine turns over in a timely fashion. sometimes, my engine takes a little longer to turn over. however if it takes too long for the engine to turn over, there will be a moment (or moments) of breif pauses during craking where all my lights go out and the engine isn't being cranked (a brief pause with no lights and no sounds at all). after this breif momemt, the engine will resume cranking again.

does this sound like a starter problem ? my starter is a duralast starter that is one year old.

If all the lights go out and the starter quits, I'd check the battery terminals and cables. Corrosion gets strange. One minute it lets the engine crank, suddenly it stops. I worked at a gas station in highschool, more than once a customers car would fail to start after fueling but "started just fine ten minutes ago" Sure enough a quick terminal cleaning got it running again.
