no fast idle 96 camry

When i start my car up in morning car won't stay idleing unless i give it gas for a few minutes then when it warms up it stays idleing at around 700 and it will start right up and slow idle once it been warmed up it is only when you first start it in the morning it seems like the fast idle won't work any more. What makes up the fast idle?Is it a sesnsor or could it be part next to the throttle linkage?

Have a shop check the ICV <- idle control valve.

Do a search in the forum you might find some more detailed answers.

Theres a valve that controls the fast idle.

Check out the thread below for more info:

I worked on a 305 that did that. The timing was a little retarded and there was a minor compression leak.

But I don't know if that would apply to you. It sounds (like everyone else said) your idle control. I'd have a shop fix it for you. It shouldn't cost too much.
