Tools needed:

1. T30 Torx Bit (Ratchet Style works best)
2. 19MM Socket
3. small Flat Head screw driver
4. phillips head screw driver (small and medium)

First, drive the car completely straight so you can let go of the wheel and it still travels forward. this is an important step.

Next, Disconnect the battery and wait at least 90 seconds. This is a very important step

Next, remove the side covers on the steering wheel with your small flat head screw driver

With the cover removed, using your T30 torx remove the bolts holding the air bag onto the steering wheel

With the T30 screws removed, next step is to remove the airbag and airbag wiring harness. The airbag wiring harness has an involved clipping system that will require your small screw driver

Next, with the airbg safely removed mark off, since your wheel is already straight, with a paint marker, mark off direction lines for re-assembly

Remove the 19mm nut, and horn wiring plug that is attached at the top of the horn area (white plug)

Firmly grip each side of the steering wheel and pull and twist until it pops off (requires some brute force sometimes)

To finish the process (not pictured)

With the steering wheel removed, there are 4 phillips head screws that hold the SRS ring in place, remove these and hang the ring down. After the 4 SRS screws are replaced, there is 4 more that hold the turn / wiper switch in place. let that hang as well.

Next, remove the four 10mm bolts that hold the bottom Knee Bolster in place (the cover that is under the steering column) You will need a flat head screw driver to remove two of the covers to gain access to the bolts.

With the 4 bolts removed, remove the cover and follow the wiring harness from the wiper / turn switches to where they go (Attached at under the column). Remove the harness plugs and swap your new switch in.

Reverse the process, hook your battery up and enjoy your new switches!

I actually did this so I could have Intermittent Wipers (Delay Set).

I used a wiper/turn switch assembly from a 92 Celica GT. The cool thing is it plugs right into the 3rd gen harness and works without any modifications at all, you just do not have a Rear Hatch wiper function ;)

Awesome DIY! Recently had problems with high beams not working on my 93 camry. Got to looking around this site and found this post. Extremely happy with the delay feature. Can't believe they didn't put that on camry's too. Only problem I had was the small white plug on the back of the swivel. A few snips and some black tape, good as new. Thanks for the post!

I just did this to fix a dash light and tail light issue.
Once I put everything back together and ran the car the airbag red light stays on now. I am pretty sure I plugged everything back in.
My dash lights and tail lights that I thought were fixed stayed on for about 2 minutes and went out again. I had put in new bulbs in the rear and a new fuse so now I am not sure where to start looking to fix the problem. I was really hoping the switch would do the trick.
