If you're running a higher octane, then you want a HOTTER plug, not colder (or you can just run the proper octane - 87). You always want to be right at the point before detonation.
High octane fuel in the 5SFE is a waste of money. The engine can't take advantage of it (low compression, limited ignition timing).
