speedometer, odometer, cruise control and gas guage OUT

So if any of you helped out in my other thread you know that my cluster isnt working properly. Car is a 1996 camry 4 cylinder. I just bought it so I've never seen the guages work properly

Well today I ruled out faulty VSS, I went through 3 different ones and even rewired the electical plug on top of the differential. I can positively say its not a bad speed sensor. I triple checked every fuse. All is good from what I can tell.

I've been hearing there is another speed sensor (speed sensor #2 or transmission speed sensor) but I cant find it.

So far I havnt seen a check engine light, havnt noticed any transmission shifting issues.

All my lights work on my cluster, and the temperature indicator seems to work

Gas guage is stuck all the way on Full and I've never gotten a response at all from the speedometer, tachometer or trip meter.

Any ideas? If it was a bad cluster would the whole thing go or is it possible just those items?

I'm losing my mind here trying to fix this car. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again to all the guys who helped me on the last thread.

Yeah, it's possible to lose just those functions. Have you had the gauge cluster out?... might just be some corrosion on the contacts or the connectors have come unplugged.

Does read like a wiring/ground problem common to the effected gauges.
speedometer, odometer, and cruise control are all related devices, i.e. none will work without the speedometer working
The fuel gauge is the odd man out.

Google: scribd 92camry wiring

Click on first link: www .scribd.com/doc/73169595/92camry
Your 1996 is Gen3 so should have the same lay out

it is an on line manual, good info in general but it may help limit your search for the problem.
There is also a scribd 1999 camry wiring available for Gen4

Fuel gauge all the way up(without a full tank) indicates sender wire is disconnected, so as BMR said it could be a disconnected wire(connection) somewhere that kills all the effected gauges.
There are "gauge fuses" in the inside fuse panel as well.

Ok guys, figured it out

Somehow i got burnt circuits on the back of my cluster, it effected basically all the guages except for temp. Replaced the cluster and its fine. Now i get to figure out why my airbag light is on. The bulb was removed from the burnt cluster.

This thread has the link to the air bag light reset:
how to replace air bags

If light comes back on then there is a problem in the system
