Trouble putting gas in tank

Hard to put gas in tank of 2001 Camry LE/CLE. A little goes in, then pump stops. Mechanic thought it was some "round thing" that needed replaced. He checked, said that is working OK. So he "blew out" something in the tank. Still have problem. Said thinks I need new gas tank. Any other ideas?

I had a Nissan 200SX that would do that. I always thought nissan just put too many bends in the filler neck? Though not like I has another 200SX to compare too. It would work if I didn't use the lock on the pump handle and just manually, sloooowly added gas, so that's what I always did.

Or does the pump kick off even if you try very slow?
