My car takes a while to shift into gear in the mornings. Any advice?

I have a 2000 Toyota Camry V6 Automatic

I just had the transmission rebuilt, and everything has been running smoothly, except some mornings I have to push harder on the gas to get the car to move. (If I run the car for 10-15 seconds this doesn't happen) I have a warranty on the new trans so I'm getting it looked at today, but I was just wondering if this will be an easy fix or another big problem? I'd like an idea if I have to plan for someone to pick me up.

Thanks!

Could be anything from the wrong type of transmission fluid, an adjustment, or crap rebuild. My guess is the latter. On an old transmission it's acceptable to have to wait like that (I have been doing it for the past few winters).

If I had to guess and pick one thing, if the fluid is the right type and otherwise OK (and I actually prefer to use the higher Dexron numbers even on an older automatic transmission) then I would be looking to adjust up the transmission oil pump pressure at idle. But again, you shouldn't have to do this on a rebuild. It's something I like to do on an older worn out transmission to keep it going. I did it to my Escort and I am still using the original 1995 automatic transmission with over 210K miles on it.

it's common on the transmission to a certain extent- you should let the tranny fluid warm up for a little bit before trying to push the car

similarly, when the tranny is cold, it won't let you go into o/d either

This is what I thought the OP was talking about, and this is perfectly normal.

AS far as I know this is normal for the transmission to take a while to shift gears when cold. Its just the computer trying to get the engine up to temp faster. Been doing that for the last 185,000 miles on my car.
