3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey Everyone-
I'm trying to see if anyone would be interested in getting some custom gauge faces for the Gen 3 Camry's. I think they're all the same- regardless of AT/MT, I4 or V6, etc- but let me know if I'm wrong.
Basically I got some reverse indiglos that quit working after only 2 months, and I can't get a hold of the company that sold them to me. I've also had 2 sets of regular indiglos that have stopped working on me, but on other cars. So I figured why not just go with some basic face overlays and not worry about the electronics breaking on me all the time.
I can't seem to find any place that makes just plain gauges for the Gen3, so I contacted import cars plus to see if they had them available. This is what they said:

Sorry but we don't have gauges for your car at this time. However, we can make custom gauge overlays and replacement gauges for 98% of the cars and trucks out there. And we can make one for you as well. But it will be pretty expensive for one set. Around $200 -
$275 for Replacement gauges and about $175 - $250 for overlays, depending on how hard they are to make, how many gauges you have, and what color you want them.
Although if you can find at least 10 people that will order a set for sure, no maybes, we can bring that price down a lot. And we will also need one person that will send us their gauge faces for 1-2 weeks so we can make the gauges. Everyone must agree on either replacement gauges, usually $90 - $135 a set; or overlays, usually $25 - $45 a set. Everyone must also have the same exact gauges (meaning the "cast" they make must work for all who want in- no difference in AT vs. MT, I4 vs. V6, etc). And everyone can get different colors or custom jobs for extra $. So let me know what you come up with and we can get the ball rolling. If you have any questions or need anything else for your ride just let me know, and if you could send me a picture of your gauges, that would be great.
Thanks
Justin DeMatteo

So- if anyone is interested, let me know. I'd like to get some custom overlays for my 96 V6 Auto Camry Coupe, and would like to help out anyone who might be interested in the process. Thanks!

This is what mine look like- are the 92-93 any different?

You can get your own colors- they don't have to be the same. Only the shape/size has to be the same.
I live in Quincy, work in Norwood- where are you from, ST4?
TRD73- yes, MMR has custom ones, but they're $95. That's a little steep.

I'm interested in the carbon fiber look for my gauges, but I really like the green indiglow look, i just wish I hadn't heard such awful things about them. My friend got some and his have quit in less than 5 months...grrrrr.
What would be cool is if they made clear/transparent overlays with just the numbers on it. Then you could cutomize it any way you wanted by painting behind the numbers and have your design show through. What do you guys think?
If you want "indiglo" type, you could paint it white or black light activated paint and just mount a small black light shining on the gauges.
If you want CF look, just stick a sheet of that fake CF stuff on the back.
If you want SS look, spray paint the back of it with chrome paint.
You get the point. The possibilties are endless.

That's exactly what I'm talking about! They always die on you quickly! So I figure the non-indiglo ones are the way to go.
