3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Ok, I currently live in Japan and the styles between the way US and here mod are somewhat different. Camry is a cheap version of Lexus and many body kits are kind of racing style. Well, over here, many people use tinting and chrome (not only just the rims) and noticed many people in the US dont seem to dig that (on luxury cars). I wanted to get a kit for my camry and modify my car to fit the japanese style (with the chrome) part, signal mirrors and so on. Well, I was wondering if I should stick with the racing style with the kit or try do my own unique thing. Most of the mafia here ride cars the US dont have in circulation or arent in big circulation (as everyone knows), such as a Toyota Aristo (Lexus GS 300 in the US) and the completely tint the windows, black paint, chrome 20's so on.
I also was thinking of trying to find Altezza tail lights that could fit my camry with little modding and change the head lights too, but there's only so little you can do with a camry to make it all out racing style.
I'm really into the Yakuza style so I want to know your guys opinion.
Do your own thing. Just the fact alone that your modding a Camry is something Unique and different. (Although the bigger this forums Camry section gets, the less unique it will be. lol)
You know what I havn't seen before? And OFFRAOD Camry! Maybe you can try that!

Well, I havent seen any modded Camry's but because they're like Lexus's, I'd assume they'd kinda fall in with the Lexus style also. But yeah, most mafia cars are black, tinted all the way and chrome what they can, with kits.
I have a Camry back in Florida, I'm just deciding what to do with it while I'm over here. What special parts do a scepter have that would suit a camry good?
Hey RichieRichJP, don't get altezza tail lights, they are super played out and look like crap on camry's. Just stick with a really clean almost stock appearance with maybe a lip kit and some real clean rims like volk te-37's or something along those lines. Make sure that the real magic lies under the hood, not just in some plastic fantastic body kit.
Yeah, I'm thinkin the same about the whole engine deal, but its a camry. I dont even think there is a turbo for it (and its a slow ass car at that). What could possibly done to make it push some power?
You can always drop in a 3SGTE from a 91-96 MR2. That'll give ya plenty of power to run with the big boys. If you build the 3S up you can look for lots of power, in the 400-500 hp range with lots of mods, custom internals, and tuning. Imagine a 12 second camry.
