My camry's engine runs very loud. The car seems to run fine other than that. It just runs loud. Someone told me I need a new muffler, but someone else told me that it could be something else, but I can't remember what he said. I could use any suggestions. Thanks Again it's a 95 toyota camry 4 dr 4cyl.
a leak causes a great amount of noise... not sure excactly why, my guesss is the exhaust silents the flow of air, and a mass of airflow out a hole causes a lot of noise. check the actual of of the muffler for any rust spots ot holes.
Has to be flex pipe on that car. Change the Flex pipe. Ur losing power and torque. Day by day it'll get worse. Get it from a junk yard. Ebay sells flex pipes only for cheap. Dont know what size u should get. Have some one measure the flex pipe in ur car then order that size from E-Bay.
if you have strait pipes from the motor, meaning from header no muffler, no cat, nothing just strait pipe, u gain power, but exhausts are set up to lessen the noice, and to give you better mpg
Originally posted by Ne0z31 actually... on my car, i gained power... although there is something up with my exhaust system... so :-P...
but yeah, look under your car right under the engine, and look for this:
may or may not have any threading around it, my exhaust is pretty much not even connected right now...
same thing happened to my 93 dx i4 2 week ago, the exhaust pipe was broken into 2 pieces inside the flex, it sounded great, like a turbo.
i went and bought an aftermarket exhaust pipe with flex $65 shipped, and replaced it myself, it was pain though, cus the screw were rusted so bad, i have to drill off the nuts to get the bolts off on the cat end.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Ya;ll have given me a lot to think about. I think I might have a hole in my flex pipes. Anyway that all sounds way to complex for me to do. I guess I will have to take it somewhere to get it fixed.
