93 camry and 94 engine

i am replacing my engine and transmission on my 93 camry with a 94 engine and trans. I am running into some wiring problems since the 94 has some sensors that the 93 didnt have. Could someone that knows this problem help me out in resolving it?

good luck

they are not 'drop in' interchangeable, the 1993 a140e has an additional sensor, the no 2 speed sensor, that the 1994 model does not have

I highly recomend going to techinfo.toyota.com and downloading information for both. You may need to remove the no 2 speed sensor from the 1993 transmission and install it into the new one, not sure on the feasability on this.

just curious how important that sensor is, and the 94 camry engine has an additional oxygen sensor, is it alright if the second sensor isnt connected

I have no idea, i see this as uncharted territory and I hope you get the model specific information. Maybe pulling the ecu out of a 94 may solve the compatibility info. Good luck on all this, the next guy who attempts this will probably wanna know how this works out for you.

I have both manuals for the 1994 and 1993 car so it's quite plain to see that the trannys are different. Another thing different is the california versus 49 other states variations (and before anyone gets critical about california emmisions imagine what it would look like if you looked outside and it was sunny and the sky was brown and green, no need to imagine that in LA). Your best bet is to yank the computer and engine harness from whatever donor car you got your new setup out of, but you will not know this until you get the year specific information for these two cars.
