hello, Can anyone help with my 92 camry power problem please.
1. it feels like lak of power on acceleration.
2. also running rough at idle speed and slight surging.
3. before engine was running at 2500rpm at 70mph and now it runs 2600rpm to go to 70mph.
4. when i start driving engine has to run higher rpm to shift from gears , feels like i have to push it to get it going.
5. no effect on pressing power on or off button. power on/off light does come on.
- replaced spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel and air filter and pcv valve.
- not getting any engine check light.
please help.
thanks

My engine oil level is ok. Transmission oil level is high- does it cause a problem?
Can't find any vacuum leak. Also did the tune up. Tire pressure is ok.
I have added Preston fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank for last two tank fill ups.
still no change.
Please help.
Thanks
The tranny fuid shouldn't be high, thatll make more work for the motor....hence the lack of power. Also, just a heads up, check the exhaust as well, just to make sure that there is not another culpri in this.
I am going for transmission fluid flush job that will bring the level to correct level.
The exhaust system is new from the manifold to the tail pipe except catalytic converter.
This car has 132000 miles.
Can fuel pressure regulator cause this problem?
I disconnected the vacuum pipe to the regulator and checked for diafram leak and it is ok.
please help.
thanks

Fuel pressure may have something to do with it, though I doubt it. My guess is the fluid level. The other thing I was thinking of, was bad gas??? maybe a longshot but ya never know.
insufficient fuel pressure from a bad regulator = bad
clogged catylitic = bad
there are specific conditions on checking tran fluid, I believe it's engine running in park fluid warm after driving 10-20 miles. remove stick wipe. put stick all the way in, remove, inspect on 'hot' ignore the fact that there might be a 'cold' section
it would be a really good idea for YOU to find out exactly how to check the level on your specific car. trannies are killed by overfilling.
i don't know what grade fuel (87, 89, 93) but maybe try 93? and how has your gas mileage been the last couple of tanks? again, maybe exhaust, it COULD possibly be an O2 sensor and u have a faulty check engine light?

Forget 93.
3vz-fe's call for 87 and have no use for more stable gasoline hah!
Dumping a full can of seafoam in a near empty tank, then filling would definately solve that problem if it was just a random bad tank of gas.

if you are having problems when the engine is cold then you need to let it warm up before you drive, its really bad for an engine to be run up to 70 mph before it is warm and it will not drive right
