Hi all. I'am a first time camry owner who has done most of the maintenance/service on my previous vehicles-- mainly domestic-- by myself.
So here's my question:
Is it possible to change the 3 spark plugs in the rear bank without removing the intake plenum?

Today, while at the Toyota parts counter in trying to get an intake plenum gasket, the service tech tells me that it's not necessary to remove the intake plenum to replace the spark plugs on the rear bank. He said that the job could be done by being creative with some extensions and universal joints. He said that it's far to much trouble to remove the intake plenum and that the job should not be taken lightly.

How many of you had success in replacing the spark plugs on this engine and which method did you use? Any tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the worst part about it is the egr tube and the mounting brackets for the pleanum,

when i changed the valve cover gaskets on my 92 v6 we bent the egr tube down, it took us a few hours with every bit of leverage we could find to bend it back up

i think it might be possible, try putting a lon extension on a wrench, then a flex, then an 8-10" extension and the spark plug socket, actually you might have to assemble the whole last part in pieces, putting the socket on the spark plug, then maybe a few 4" extensions (just cuz you can't really get the angles)
