Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
i was wondering if anyone here has put a sunroof into there gen3, mine currently does not have one, but i've seen the whole assymblys off of camry's and solara's for sell on ebay, and i was wondering if it was a "simple" task to do, or would there be alot of work involved (not for me, but for a shop) if anyone has done this, let me know how it went and how you like it, price and other such information, or if it's even possible, i just thought it up, so it may not even be possible to do....beats me
thanks guys

I would think it isn't an easy job. Aftermarket sunroofs are always iffy because they tend to start leaking if it isn't done properly. If you are gonna do it make sure to find a shop that has a good reputation.
Doing it 'properly' would mean replacing the sheetmetal on the roof as well. That would be the only way to install an OEM sunroof. OEM ones don't seal, they have a catch pan and drain tubes for water leakage. Aftermarket ones try to seal the water out, which rarely works. I'd say it's not worth it.
There are places that do that, but you're looking upwards of $1000. NOT worth it to me for just a sun roof.
You can go ghetto and do a rag top sun roof but that shit looks soo stupid.

There are some good aftermarket ones made by Webasto, my Dad's galant has one on it. Its weird since a lot of Mitsubishi dealers only buy the Galant ES and then they send it to a sound shop and install an alarm, cd changer, and sunroof. The sunroof doesn't leak, and is sealed well, the only thing is that the molding on the inside isnt really that great looking. Remeber that this is the 1997 sunroof model, and the ones they show online now look a lot more stock. Just make sure you get it done at a reputable place

I live jsut south of Nashville and I would recommend that you try calling Cole Brothers and Auto Air and Sound one more is Auto Trim Design. THey are a couple of shops in the Nashville area that have been doing that type work in Nashville for quite a while and have good reps. Like someone said though you are looking at 1k or more probably to have it done.
Wow, its not a task that most would try to do. Don't know, but think the roof structure/design has to be different between models.
