Having trouble with alarm system in 2000 Camry LE

Hi guys,

I'm installing a remote start keyless entry alarm system in my 2000 Camry LE and ran into a bit of trouble. I got the remote start and most of the features to work great, but I'm having trouble getting the remote entry to work. This 2000 Camry has a factory remote entry module in it already. I figure if tap the wires between the power locks and factory module, it should work fine. I was wrong. It didn't do any good.

Here's the wiring diagram for the 2000 Camry

Which wire am I suppose to use for the power locks for remote entry???
The power lock or power motor??

Maybe I got the wrong wires. If anyone has a suggestion, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

The door lock/unlock wires are behind one of the kick panels. Probably the passenger side kick panel.

By the way you can't use the img tags to link a picture thats on your computer. You need to upload it somewhere, then get the link for it.

hey guys,
it still doesnt work..... My 2000 camry has a operational factory keyless entry system in already. Will I have to change the way I wire my lock and unlock output wire from my alarm system to the car wiring system??? Or do I need some relays??? I need help. I've spent 2 days trying to figure this out..... Any help would would be appreciated.

Below is the wiring diagram for my alarm. The car wiring diagram is about 2 replies up on this page.

The lock wires are about 18 gauge. They will test only by operating the key in the passenger door lock cylinder, not the rocker switch on the door itself

this is if you want to open all the doors. Do not touch the motor wires. Those are only if you want to have driver priority access.

I wired it to the correct wire and it still doesnt work. Does the factory keyless entry module affect how I wire it at all?? Do I need relays? Thanks

SInce they all -ve circuit you dont need any relay but it is supposed to work sice i just installed 1 on my car and works perfect. Double check your wires. they are very thin wires just under the dash try removing the plug it seld and operate swith to know if you are on the right plug

^ Connect the door lock/unlock output from the alarm to a DMM.

Arm the alarm = pulse from the lock wire.

Disarm the alarm = pulse from the unlock wire.

P.S. Connect one wire at a time. Don't connect both to the DMM at the same time.

You don't need relays. Toyotas with power door locks have relays onboard (on the car itself).
