94 Camry Rear Struts - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

I have a question for those of you who have replaced the rear struts on a 92-96 camry. Do we need to use spring compressors for the rear struts to remove the springs or can it be done by hand. I know the fronts need compressors because they are much beefier but I've heard the backs do not.

Also, I got a pair of Rear Monroe Struts boots from the Advance Auto because mine are shreaded like so many. I've heard some people have problems with generic boots. What types of problems are they having? Can I use these boots are do I need to goto the toyota dealer and dish out $30 each for boots?

Lift the back of the car (both wheels) so the suspension just "hangs". You can remove the struts from the car wiithout a spring compressor. You need the a spring comressor when you move the springs from the old struts to the new.
