Dip security switch and Starter Wire question for 97 Camry

Hi,

Im not sure if anyone has ever tried this. But I am thinking of setting up a relay in the power to the starter. There will be a seires of 4 lighted switches. The right combination will close the circuit to the relay and let power proceed through the wire to the starter of the car. Basically what it boils down to is just one big relay to bridge a starter wire.

Has anyone ever heard of this being done before? Does anyone know if this would be easy or hard? Woudl there be any things I would have to keep an eye out for?

I would think that the main thing is to put the switch somewhere where someone wont think of looking right away. Because once they find your relays they could rip it out and bypass it. it depends on how you implement it I guess

Well all the wiring would be carried to a seam of the car like you would wire car audio. I would use lighted 12 volt switches and the ones that weren't linked to a relay would would still light up. The only way a crook would know would be if they ripped up the car to follow the wire.

Btw this wouldn't be my primary form of security. I have a viper alarm. This would just be supplementary.

I am very familiar with electronics. I am not familiar with car starter systems. I was interested as to whether there is one starter wire I could splice and create a big on and off switch relay with. or what problems would come with it.

You already have a starter disable relay.

Its triggered when you arm the alarm. Basicly whenever the alarm is armed and you try to start the car, nothing happens.

So adding another one is kinda useless, since you already have one.

Starter: black/white wire, +, at the ignition harness.

The starter disable relay from the Viper alarm is wired into it.
