i think its the motor but i jus wanted to know if this a common problem on these cars??

i heard gen3 camry's wipers would stop working cause the linkages would seize but before i go and take apart the linages or motor i just wanted to know if anyone else here had similar problems and what the result was

actaully, haven't heard too much about that on the gen3s, but I remember from awhile back when somebody else came up with the same problem though.

I think the end result was that the linkage was seized....I would check that first too, since then you won't have to go get a new motor...

tho I'm sure that wouldn't be a big hassle for you anyway since you're always rummaging around those junk yards

Yeah just check to make sure that it's the motor that is really bad. ONce when my wipers stop working on my bro's accord it was because a nut from the linkage had dropped off so it wasn't connected to the motor.

it is probably your wiper motor. you better hope its not the linkage, if it is expect to spend mucho time or money to get it fixed.

i check standard auto wreckers and all 3 camry's had the wiper linkages and motors removed before they were put into the yard which tells me it is a common problem cause standard wont spend the time or money to remove parts from cars and keep it in storage if they wont sell.....

thats why i wanted to know which one more ppl have heard of cause either way its an easy job, i just dont wonna end up buying both parts if i dont need them

thanks to you all

and now i feel screwed, i called the seller and the guy talked as if he didnt know what i was talking about said that it was working fine... said that i have to fix it..
now after doing some search here and seeing how much this would cost.. im so mad

i popped the hood and put the wipers on and i dont hear the motor trying to move or anything..
im freaking screwed.. i dont want to spend 400+ after just buying this car.

^ you're lucky...if it's just the motor, it shouldn't be much....

now if you hear the motor going, but the linkage is stuck, then you're going to have to spend some serious $$$ to fix it...

and holy threa revival batman!!! but good for you for using the search function

Isn't there a fuse for the wipers? If there is, check it.

hi im a nub when it comes to this engine and where things are located..
i drive an xplorer and location of things is totally different..

im assuming the wiper motor is bolted on the firewall???
also when u say it wont cost much how much am i looking at from the junkyard or from the dealer?
i have to get someone to test if it is the motor that doesnt work?
i dont hear anything when i move the lever for the wipers..
the pump works as it can squirt the washer fluid.

i also checked the fuse inside the car and it looked fine

just got this problem solved but now i have or had a new one.
for the wiper problem i took it the place where they did my safety
the mech did watever it took for him to get the wiper going without him buying a new motor and linkages.. he rebuilt the motor ( i think) i saw him take the little motor apart and put it back together using a blow torch etc... he also took out the linkages and he found them seized once again on with the blowtorch and he lubed it up and got the wipers working.
but told me i might still need a motor after a while. but so far it works..( band aid fix)

on the way home from the mechanic 45 mins highway driving and up on a steep hill
i saw my temp gauge go to almost red 3/4 up and i got worried so i chugged it home without it going to red.. got home popped the hood and saw the reservoir full to the cap with brown garbage coolant... took out the reservoir and dumped it and put in some new coolant...
called a rad shop they wanted $75 for flush and cant be done till tommo
called jiffy lube $69 for flush and can be done now.

jiffylube is about 2km away from my place, while driving the car was getting to 3/4 again
i got it in jiffylube but once the mech tried to open the radiator, he called me out and told me he doesnt want to do it because it has so much pressure that i should take it to a special rad shop as he thinks theres somthing wrong, told him what happend and practically begged him to just do the flush and just let the car sit for an hr to cool down.

he came around and took a look at the upper hose of the radiator top part, and got that open without radiator exploding everwhere and from there he did the flush ( assuming pressure flush).

drove the car for about 50km without the needle going up more than half so im hoping that problem is solved.

ive only had this car for 3 days and ive already had my headaches
im hoping my cooling problem is solved. on saturday ill try to get the a/c working
the joys of buying a used car
